Fathoms utilize a number of different multibeam systems to match the project requirements and location. The main beam-forming systems used are the Kongsberg Simrad EM3002 and Reson Seabat, with the main interferometric swath system being the SEA Swath+.

The data is acquired either using the manufacturers proprietary software or via QPS Qinsy, which is an industry leading acquisition software package. Post processing of the bathymetry is via Caris HIPS and post processing of the backscatter data to form Sidescan mosaics is via Caris SIPS.

Processed bathymetry is available as either gridded xyz data, which can then be used in many 3rd party software packages, or it can be sorted and contoured for charting purposes. A further option is to produce 3D imagery and/or 3D ‘fly through’ presentations. These can be watched using Windows media player, or if the client wishes to have control of the fly through, via a downloadable 3D viewer.

The information can be presented in an almost unlimited way, with different colours, contours & formats etc to suit the clients requirements.

Multibeam surveys are easy to do, but are also easy to do badly. Fathoms surveyors are fully trained on the use of and theory behind multibeam surveying.
